Getting Through Monday on Sheer Willpower

Today is one of those days where getting work done doesn’t come easy.

It’s not so much that it’s Monday—although that’s part of it—it’s more to do with the weather. It’s positively balmy outside. It feels more like an early spring day than it does a day in the middle of November. It’s 15 degrees Celsius today.

15 degrees, in Edmonton, in the middle of November.

Let that sink in.

Now imagine leaving the office around noon to pick up lunch. Imagine a warm breeze on your face. Imagine the sun shining and the blue sky, almost entirely free of clouds.

Would you want to go back to work?

The temptation to play hooky was very, very strong. But, there’s work to be done and money to be made. I just wish my office had a window—a window that opens—so I could at least enjoy a little bit of this unseasonal weather.

….as if the typical office worker needs any more temptation to skip work! Ah well, such is the nature of the office.

Haha! I don’t mind working, most of the time. But, when the weather is super nice—especially at this time of year—it’s hard to spend the day in a windowless office.
