There are a lot of Hispanics in Arizona: 30% of the population according to the latest census, which is double the rate for the country as a whole. Thats almost two million people, legally in the country, who will be subject to questioning any time a police officer gets the urge. All the officer has to do is claim “probable cause” or “reasonable suspicion.” A Latino spotted in a busted-out old claptrap of a car could be stopped on the basis that illegal immigrants often dont have money for nice cars. The same person in a new sports car could be stopped because illegal immigration is linked with the drug trade, and how else would a Hispanic get an expensive car other than peddling drugs? Doesnt matter how many generations of your family have been born and raised in America — if you look Hispanic, you’re a target.
