Rethinking Monday

Mondays Suck

Mondays suck.

At least, that’s the common perception. A perception which, until recently, I agreed with.

I used to dread Monday morning, knowing that it meant the end of the weekend and the start of the workweek.  My time would no longer be my own. It would belong to my employer.

I’ve decided to start looking at Monday in a new way.

Monday is the start of the workweek. That much remains true. But instead of viewing it as something to be suffered, I’m trying to view it as an opportunity to take my job by the balls and get shit done.

Monday is a challenge. Monday is an opportunity.

And Monday sets the mood for the rest of the workweek. If you let Monday drag you down and crush your spirit, you’re going to end up feeling that way for the rest of the week. Eventually, you might start to feel that your job is an enterprise designed for the sole purpose of breaking your spirit.

If, instead, you start to view Monday as an opportunity to show off the talents that got you the job in the first place, maybe you’ll start the week off in a good mood. Maybe you’ll start to remember why you applied for your job in the first place. Maybe you’ll start to enjoy the job that, just yesterday, you’d thought of as soul-crushing.

I might be wrong, but it can’t hurt to try.
