Cigars and Other Tobacco Products

I recently found out that one of my favourite cigars is no longer available in Canada. The Honduran Excaliber Perfecto has been “discontinued” by the Canadian distributor. I assume this means that the cigar is still being made, just not imported to Canada. It’s a shame, because it was a very nice, mild cigar. Great for days where you didn’t want something really powerful or overwhelming. It was nice and light, with a bit of a spicy edge to it.
Luckily, I’ve been talking to the tobacconists at both Burlington and La Tienda, and they’ve recommended some similar sticks for me. I’ve tried a few of them, and they’re damn fine cigars. Not quite the same as the Excaliber, of course, but definitely good in their own right.
I’ve also got a CAO M x 2 (double maduro…yum!) sitting in the humidor waiting to be smoked[1]. I’ve heard a lot of good things about CAO’s cigars, and I love maduro’s so I suspect that a double maduro will be incredibly flavourful. And, to hear one of the guys at Burlington gush over it… Well, it was far too genuine to have been a mere sales pitch.
In other tobacco news, I’m thinking about taking up pipe smoking. I’m not sure why, but lately pipe smoking has seemed very appealing to me. I think it would be a very relaxing, contemplative experience. To quote Albert Einstein, pipe smoking “contribute[s] to a somewhat calm and objective judgment in all human affairs.” If I was ever to succumb to peer pressure, I think Einstein would be an okay “peer” to listen to. I think I’ll have to talk to the boys at Burlington about getting setup with an inexpensive pipe this weekend.

[1] I’m plan on letting it age for a month or two before I smoke it, to really bring out the multitude of flavours that await within. Also, if you click the link, you’ll have to click on the M x 2 band on the right-hand side, as the site uses Flash.

These twitters are confusing me tell me if they’re more than a random thought bubble over a little mean looking man’s head or more elaborate than that?
They’re basically just my random thoughts–things that I want to talk about, but don’t want to make a full blog post about. Pretty much what I said in the post I wrote about them a few days ago.
And, it’s not a “mean looking” man, it’s a dude who is half asleep because he hasn’t had his coffee yet. It’s just the picture I chose to be my avatar.
There is more to it than just the individual post pages. My full profile page can be seen here.
