Double Plus Christmas

I will be celebrating two Christmases this year. If you don’t know me, you might assume that, in addition to “regular” Christmas, I’m also celebrating Ukrainian Christmas (aka: Orthodox Christmas). Given that I live in Edmonchuk, this would be a reasonable assumption. It would not, however, be correct. In case my surname wasn’t an indication, I am not a member of Edmonton’s large Ukrainian-Canadian demographic.
The reason that I’m celebrating Christmas twice this year is because my fiancée and I will each be going to visit our individual families on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. To make up for this, we’ll be having our own Christmas celebrations tomorrow night. There will be hors deurves for dinner, a bit of baking, and the watching of TV Christmas specials (on DVD for our viewing convenience). We’ll eat, drink, and exchange gifts. And then, a few days later, we’ll do it all over again with our families. After the week I’ve been having, I’m definitely looking forward to it.
