Looking for a Condo

I’ve been doing some thinking about my whole real estate situation, and I’ve decided to start looking at condos, instead of houses. The simple reason for this is that, as much as I would like to have a house and a backyard, I cannot afford one in this market.

I have found a few condos that look nice, though. Even when the condo fees are included, the cost per month for these units is much cheaper than buying a house and paying utilities (all of the condos I’ve looked at include power and heat in the fees, some even include electricity).

While these units will cost me more than my apartment will after the upcoming rent increase, the difference will only be by a few $100 per month. I think I can sacrifice a few $100 a month in order to own a place (even if it does end up being smaller than my current apartment).

I’ve contacted a few realtors about properties I saw online, and some of them seem quite promising. I will probably be viewing a few of these properties in the next week or two. Hopefully, one of them will work out and be the place that I end up buying.

Always remember to read all of the condo documents when buying one as you don’t know about all of the weird little rules which they may have in place. Some condo stories I’ve heard will make you want to read ALL the fine print. I’ll have to share my wisdom on the subject with you LOL!

That’s definitely true. Most of the places I’m looking at are recent apartment converts, so they probably haven’t had time to elect a condo board full of insane people who will add insane rules, but I will definitely make sure to keep an eye out for any stupidity.
