Miserable

Most of the time, I enjoy the rain. The sound of it hitting a window, or a car rooftop, or an umbrella. The coolness of it against your skin. Rain is good. Storms are pretty cool, too. Rain–and really wet snow–is fairly typical in the spring. Most of the time, I enjoy the rain. This week, not so much.
I want to let my patio door stay open. I want to let the fresh air inside. I want to sit out on my balcony with a bottle of beer and a good book. I want to sit out on a Sunday with a carafe full of dark roast, or a bottle of red. I want to pretend that I’m in some low grade European knock-off. I want to the May flowers, not the April showers. Alas, it is not to be for at least another few days. The weekend looks like it will be as crappy as the last two days have been. It’s too bad, too, because it would have been really nice to have a weekend of balcony time to celebrate finishing my first week at the new job. A carafe of coffee, a bowl of brandy, and a Montecristo No.3 would have been perfect.
Instead, I suppose I’ll spend the time holed up in my apartment watching movies…maybe some Seinfeld on DVD. That, and I’m probably going to see Hot Fuzz on Saturday night with Ms. Wilson, which should be a riot. I guess maybe the rain isn’t so bad, after all. It’s nice to cocoon once in a while.
