New Used Car

I’m thinking about selling my car, and buying a “new” used vehicle. I love my car, and I don’t really want to get rid of it. But, I’m thinking that it might be worthwhile to get a new vehicle. I’m not sure how much longer my car will last me, without needed some expensive repairs.
If I was more mechanically inclined, I wouldn’t be worried. But, because I’m not able to do more than the simplest repairs myself, this car could become a money pit in another year or two. Possibly sooner.
I’m thinking about getting a cheap pickup truck, if I can find one.
I’ve been looking on AutoTrader.ca, and found a few decent looking trucks for under $1000. There are actually 2 that are looking pretty good to me.
One is a 1990 Ford F-150 for $500. The other is an ‘88 GMC with extended cab for $850. Assuming that they’re running well, either of these would be an okay choice for me. Both are relatively cheap, and would mostly be covered by the money I should be able to get from my car.
I dunno…likely, this won’t happen for a few months, since I’m trying to buy a house, and I don’t need more stress to deal with, but we’ll see.

You can shop for vehicles in Edmonton online at http://www.carsgone.com. This is how I found my new used vehicle (a 1995 Toyota Tercel). With my experience owning beaters, if you’re going to be paying under a $1000 for the vehicle, expect problems to pop up sooner than later. (Though you never really do know). I’d suggest running your Acura right to the bitter end. (Are you doing routine maintenace on the vehicle now? ie: spark plugs, filters, fluid changes?)
Thanks for the tip, Spence.
As for routine maintenance, yeah, I am keeping up with that for the most part. Probably not quite as well as I should be, though.
The main problems are a few electrical issues, that are probably easy to fix, but likely won’t be cheap, since I’ll most likely have to take it to the shop.
But, you’re right, I should run it until I can’t run it anymore.
I’d agree with Spencer if you’re trying to buy property right now.
Hey guys hope you find our site useful. Glad to hear that people are able to find good deals on the site. Just to let you know the site will be completly re-built in the next month or so, and will be better than ever…. Hope you all keep finding it useful… dont worry we are keeping it FREE for everyone…
As for the beaters uner a $1000. In my experience you can travel a long long way on under a $1000 if you play your cards right. I went from Edmonton to Vancouver Island and back in a $100 dollar car, a 1978 Celica with a timing chain that sounded like diesel engine on a Mack truck… didnt put a dime in and couldnt kill it.
Anyway please keep on posting the cars and using our site http://www.carsgone.com
Kind regards
