New Year’s Resolutions

I don’t generally make New Year’s resolutions but this year, I have made a few. The first is the classic “exercise more” resolution. I have actually been planning to do this for quite a while, but never got around to it. Christmastime brought with it a new portable media player and pair of track pants, which means that I’m now properly equipped to start running.
I went out today for the first time in a long time. I fucked up my ankle, and realized just how out-of-shape I am, but it felt good to be active. I don’t know if this is really a New Year’s resolution, since I’ve been planning to do it for a while, but the fact that I started on New Year’s Day kind of lumps it in with the rest.
I have also resolved to be more open to change and opportunity. I’ve had a couple of opportunities in the past year–mostly job related–that I let pass me by (or didn’t try as hard as I could have to make them happen). This year, I’ll try not to worry so much about change. I’ll try to get out of my comfort zone a bit more often, and see where I get as a result.
That’s pretty much it. Exercise more; and don’t pass on the opportunity to make more money, apply for a job related to my training (i.e.: writing, editting, analyzing, etc), get published, perform my work, etc, etc, etc. Two relatively simple (and fairly broad) resolutions. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep/achieve them.
