Raving Poets Done for the Summer

Well, it’s over for another summer. The Raving Poets have ridden off into a beer soaked sunset, not to return until who knows when (I’m banking on November, as has been the case for the past couple of years). The Rapture series was an incredible run. There were some damn good nights during previous seasons, but I think Rapture has been the strongest overall (since I’ve been involved, at any rate).

Sure, some nights were better than others, but even the “bad” nights were pretty damn good this time around. Hell, there were even some readers who surprised me. There are certain people, I must admit, who just don’t do it for me. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re bad writers or bad performers, just that I don’t usually enjoy their work. I found myself really digging some of the work that these “non-favourites” brought to the stage this series.

It was a great run, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do on Wednesday nights for a while. I’m sure I’ll figure something out once the summer truly gets under way, but there will no doubt be a bit of a void for a couple of weeks while I get my bearings. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Until next time, be sure to check out the Raving Poets online, as well as the Live at the Kasbar podcast (which may or may not also be on hiatus for the summer).
