Road Trippin’ Recommendations

I’ve mentioned before that I plan on taking several road trips this summer. Mostly, I want to tool around the province. I don’t really have holidays, since I started a new job fairly recently (though I can probably score the occasional extended weekend, if necessary), so I can’t really go on any long trips. I’m okay with that, though. I fully intend to drive around this entire continent one day (Canada and the US, at least), but I’m happy just exploring Alberta this summer. There is a lot of this province that I’ve never seen. That, dear readers, is where you come in.

I’m asking for your recommendations. Where should I travel this summer? Do you have a favourite small town in Alberta that I simply must visit? Tell me where to get the best burgers in the province. Let me know if the spaceship landing pad in St. Paul worth the drive. Is Vulcan worth the trip if I’m not a Trekkie?

I’ve been to Calgary, Red Deer (I’ve even gone off the highway and into the city once), Drumheller, Jasper, Banff, Boyle, Leduc, Devon, Cold Lake, Cochrane, and a few others that I’m forgetting. I’ll probably hit a few of those places again this summer, but I’m looking for new adventures. Basically, you tell me where to explore, and I’ll check it out if I have the time (and gas money) to do it. After I’ve taken a trip to one of your recommended locations, I’ll come home and write a blog entry about it.

Leave you recommendations in the comments, or send me an email.

I would highly recommend Waterton National Park. Incredible scenery. It might be a bit far for a weekend, though. Also, Cypress Hills Prov. Park is pretty cool.

I’ve heard good things about Waterton, though I’ve never been. But, yeah, it’s right on the border, isn’t it? Might not be too bad if I had a four day weekend (which I should be able to do near the end of August).

Looks like Cypress is pretty close to the US border, as well. I’d definitely like to check out both of those parks, though.
