Spring Windows

I’m driving with the windows down again. It’s one of my favourite things. Putting the windows down means fresh air. Fresh air and a clearer view of the world outside. It’s rebirth without exiting the auto.
I’m driving with the windows down and the cool air wakes me up on the way to work. Campus radio is sending wave after wave of absolutely killer music my way. It pours out onto the sidewalk, and I follow it with my eyes. There are joggers.
These weekday joggers make me wish I didn’t have to pay the bills. It’s 8:30 in the morning, why aren’t they at work? Are they jogging to the office? And that couple holding hands, they’re walking with too much romance to be headed to work. Nevertheless, seeing them brings a smile to my face.
Michael Gravel said something about people holding hands the other day, and it’s stuck with me. Now every time I see a couple walking down the street, hand-in-hand, I can’t help but smile.
It’s one of those things that I wouldn’t have noticed just a few months ago. Lately, I’ve been noticing it all the time, and Mike’s words have my reactions even more visceral. I see hand-holding and I feel a gut-shot of emotion.
There are other issues at play here, but for now let’s just call it spring.

Spring…in your footsteps, in your heart, in the seat of your car going over speed bumps…spring can be found in most situations…..
Hey now, let’s not go making fun of my crappy shocks.
Hi Adam,
I’ve stumbled upon your archive, without meaning to, and I must ask you…. are you the same Adam Snider that I went to school with? (Queen E, that is)…
Well, regardless of whether you are or not, your writing is inspiring to me and I congratulate you for following your dream, rather than falling into the faceless corporate world (as I have unintentially have… oops!). I no longer live in Canada however perhaps you will be holding a reading this upcoming July/August when I’ll be in town…?
Hi Michelle,
Yeah, I’m the same Adam. I take it you’re married, from the last name? Congrats on that. Spencer mentioned that you were living in Australia now…
I suspect there will probably be a reading sometime this summer. Probably a few, actually.
Send me an email at adam (dot) snider (at) gmail (dot) com sometime and we’ll chat.
Hand holding rocks. I do it all the time.
