Summer Movies for the Geek in All of Us

This summer is all about geeking out to some of the coolest–and geekiest–blockbusters to be released in a long time. I’ve got to say, I’m looking forward to it. Below is a list of the nerdy movies that I plan to see this summer. Some of them are already released, and some are yet to come. All of them, though, look like they’ll be a blast.
Geeky Movies for the Summer of 2007:
- Spider-Man 3
- Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (this might not qualify as “geeky,” but it’ll still be awesome)
- Transformers
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- TMNT (the trick with this one is finding who’s willing to see it with me)
- Live Free or Die Hard (this is more cheesy than geeky, but it will be good for all of the wrong reasons)
- The Bourne Ultimatum (thanks for the reminder, Scott!)
Did I miss anything? What are the summer blockbusters (geeky or otherwise) that you’re looking forward to this summer?

Hey man, you should have said something when TMNT came out, we saw it opening night, had a wonderful time. My bro and two of his friends even flew all the way to NY City to see the premier in Manhattan (and I know it’s a sin, but yes, there was much jealousy). I’d be up for seeing it again, although it’ll probably be on DVD in just a few months, with the quick turnaround time from movie-theater to home theater.
And I don’t know how any must-see movies of 2007 list can be complete without the Bourne Ultimatum. You _do_ know Matt Damon is in it, right?
Don’t forget Rambo.
John Rambo
that is.
However Transformers is what I am really waiting for.
OMG I saw the original TMNT in theatres when I was little. I’m so looking forward to the new version, although I have already heard from a few people that it’s nowhere near as good as the original. Won’t stop me though.
I can’t wait for Harry Potter… and the final book comes around at the same time!!!! June is going to be a Harry Potter fest and I just don’t know if I can contain myself!!!!
Scott, I knew I was forgetting something! I’ll add it to the list. It’s sounds like you’ve got a bit of a man-crush happening.
Andrew, John Rambo isn’t slated for release until sometime in 2008. Looks deliciously violent, though.
Michelle, I’ve heard that the new one was actually better. Though, it’s a different type of movie than the old rubber suit one of our youth, from what I heard. A bit more family-oriented. I’m not really sure what that means, though, considering that the first one was a pretty all-ages one.
What about Shrek 3?
Can’t wait to see Harry Potter and Transformers. Went to Waitress the other night. People just didn’t understand the humour in that film. I giggled all the way through. Mr. Fillion did a great job.
Shrek the Third is one that I really could do without. I’ll probably wait until it comes out on video.
