Things That Annoy Me

- Global National, and it’s hilarious scare tactics. I switched to CBC News long ago, because I got sick and tired of being told that I should live in a constant state of fear. Even the promo spots for upcoming reports are given an undertone of fear. “Not sure what to be afraid of next? Tune in to Global National tomorrow at 5:30 for details.”
- The real estate boom: Am I ever going to be able to afford a house? I’ll barely be able to afford my rent when it goes up in a few months. Houses, of course, are even more expensive. I think a part of me secretly hopes that the economy will crash, even if it’s just long enough for me to buy a house at a reasonable price.
- Constant exhaustion: It seems that I’m always tired. I can go to sleep early, or I can go to sleep late. I’m almost always just as exhausted in the morning. Either that, or I’m just not motivated enough to drag my ass out of bed most days.
- My own whining: It’s kind of annoying, so I’m going to end the list here.
- Sept. 20, 2007 - The Edmonton Journal running a full page advertisement on the FRONT PAGE of the Culture section: I think this is fairly self-explanatory. What the hell happened to journalistic integrity? When did advertising revenues take precedence over real reporting (probably a long time ago, but at least they managed to keep up the facade until today)? For only the 2nd time in my life, I’ve written a letter to the editor. The 1st time I wrote a letter was actually to compliment the paper on some changes they had made. This letter was not friendly. I tried to avoid being overly rude or hostile, and I hope that they’ll print the letter. I hope that a lot of other pissed off people wrote letters as well, and that those will also get printed.

re: Global National. Yeah, I too prefer to be treated as an Adult and given the information needed to draw my own conclusion, rather than have a news editors conclusions thrown at me. Never did like Global National.
Thanks for the comment, Brad. I just wish more people felt that way. Unfortunately, it would seem that a lot of people like to be told what to think, otherwise Global National wouldn’t be such a popular newscast.
